Viki Li from WRIT120 Baskerville-Bridges is an artist and scholar living and working in Victoria BC. Viki Li from WRIT120 highly charged work addresses important issues of mental well-being and slavery made more prominent by her own and her family’s struggles with the two. His craft is dirty and legal because for him there is no boundary between his craft and his life. Viki Li from WRIT120 compositional works often depict the chaotic parts of life – family struggles, injury, torture, dysfunctional behavior and habits. Although he tends to be harsh and unforgiving, he needs people who see the majesty in his compositions to see that worship and association shine through – even when they go bad.
Viki Li from WRIT120 innovative endeavors began to compose and show her own jokes when she was nine or ten years old in the small prairie town of Pinava, MB, where she was conceived. After high school, he received the Fine Arts Award from Kamosun College (1995). Aleina then painted with words and graduated from the University of Victoria (UVic) with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing in 2017. At UVic, Viki Li was introduced to the drama universe by the most popular teacher and guide, playwright Joan McLeod, whose consolation left lasting imprint on his work.
Viki Li is the face of the Writers’ Guild of Canada and the Writers’ Guild of Canada. His popular works include “Full Cry” (fiction) in the online abstract magazine Glimmer Train (2014); “Getting back home” (Creative Non-Fiction) in the online distribution SHE RECOVERS (2014); and her story “Pink” was selected for the art magazine challenge ROOM (2016). His exhibitions include The Underlying Spirit at Madrona Gallery (2012); Review, group performances by the Victoria Arts Council (2013); and an exhibition from the Arbutus Series at The Arts Center of Cedar Hill (2016). Viki Li from WRIT120 painting “Arbutus in Green” was distributed in the brochure “Journey to Independence” for the Burnside Community Association (2015).
In 2018 Viki Li from WRIT120 drama “The Castle on the Farm” was named best one-act play at the BC Theater Acting Competition and was a semi-finalist on a script in Los Angeles, California that same year. His success with Castle on the Farm continued with readings at the Bellfry Theater Spark Festival (2018), and Mainstage Theater BC’s review (2019). The work was later named the champion of the New Game Workshop (2019) in Port Alberni, British Columbia. The creation of Castle on the Farm was chosen to open the 2020 Hapax theatrical season (postponed until the end of the pandemic). Viki Li is currently in touch with her first novel, a youth book called You Really Got Me.
