Amazon is an example of a top organization to work for as an employee.  

1. As one of the top employers in the U.S., Amazon is always looking for ways to innovate and improve their product and the consumer’s experience. They have an entrepreneurial mindset and are continuously making changes to how their company operates. This is the perfect work environment for individuals who want to gain experience and knowledge.

2. Amazon’s human resources looks for ways to stay relevant and continuously improve the customer experience. By recognizing the consumers’ need for wanting cheaper, faster, and convenient shopping methods, Amazon excels in the economy. Not only do they recognize the need of consumers, but they make it happen. Amazon has become the “go to” website and app for majority of U.S. consumers. If we need something, we look to Amazon first because of their quick delivery services and also their wide variety of products that are at a lower price. HR’s recruitment and selection process is unique from other employers. They do not focus as much on employees’ previous work experience. They recruit by conducting numerous interviews from different workers to avoid any biased decisions.

3. Amazon compares to Patagonia in the sense that both companies are looking for deeper connections with their team. They want to get to know the employee on a personal level rather than just conducting generic interviews and reading who the person is off of a piece of paper. Both companies look at the bigger picture and strategically hand pick their employees based on what they can bring to the table, while also providing them with an environment to gain knowledge and grow as a individual.

For this assignment I researched some of the top companies to work for in the United States. The company Hilton came up on multiple articles as the top voted company to work for.

Over this past summer, Hilton launched a campaign to support their faculty’s mental health. This launch provided staff with new tools and resources to promote a healthy mindset and a good relationship with themselves. Hilton wants their employees to be as happy and healthy as possible so that they can not only enjoy going to work but look forward to it and do their best job. “In order to be the most hospitable company in the world, we understand that our culture and our Team Members have to be at the heart of our business,” said Laura Fuentes, chief human resources officer, Hilton. 

Much like Patagonia, The Hilton company is very family oriented. Not only do they consider themselves and all their employees “one big family”, but they truly care about each person’s family that works for them. Both hourly and salary employees are offered extended maternity and paternity leave, extended bereavement, assistance to parents looking to adopt a child, and several other comforting benefits regarding family-oriented relations.

Hilton clearly demonstrates many human resource practices. Some of the most prominent I noticed, are providing security to employees, selective hiring and hiring the right people, and making information easily accessible to those who need it

Patagonia and Hilton have both been repeatedly voted best company to work for, especially employees who are parents due to the flexibility the companies have with work schedules. As someone who considers mental health and being their for my family some of my top priorities, I would definitely consider working for Hilton’s human resource department.
